CAMBRIDGE LOWER SECONDARY
To cover Math, English and further Science learning, we use The Cambridge International Programme at Semarang Multinational School. We are qualified to offer both the Cambridge Primary Programme and Lower Secondary Programme. To support this curriculum, we integrate the latest hardware, software and applications into our classroom.
CAMBRIDGE IGCSE
Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) Cambridge IGCSE subjects are a group of courses specifically designed to provide students with the best of international education instruction for Years 9 and 10. From this base students will have the option to aim for the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma by taking Cambridge International AS / A Levels papers in Year 11 and 12.
Students at SMS take the IGCSE in Years 9 and 10, and study 7 IGCSE subjects. All students take two English Language papers plus one elective Language, Global Perspectives, Mathematics, Science, and a Humanities paper. This qualifies them for the internationally recognised Cambridge International Certificate of Education (ICE), particularly popular in the USA.
As students progress through their two-year IGCSE learning path they will be provided with continuous feedback on their learning progress. Towards the end of Grade 10 they will have the opportunity to sit external assessments. The examinations include written and oral tests as well as practical assessment. Coursework is evaluated in-house by SMS teachers and moderated by external examiners from the CIE. Further info click here
THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life. It is the world’s leading youth achievement award. Each award level incorporates components of Service, Physical Recreation and Skills. By creating opportunities for our students to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure, the Award can play a critical role in their development outside the classroom. It also allows their achievement to be recognised worldwide, giving SMS students a unique international accreditation of their experiences.
